From humble beginnings as a local tip to a beautiful local nature reserve.
This site next to the River Stour is an excellent place to spot birds and other wildlife. The habitat is mainly grassland and scrub, which has a remarkable 150 different types of flowering plants.
We use livestock grazing to help us manage the site, and you can usually spot our cattle between September and April. We ask visitors to keep their dogs under close control when passing these animals.
There are occasional guided walks throughout the year at Iford Meadows.
You can see the location of Iford Meadows on our map.
As the site is mainly grassland the ground can be muddy and uneven, so it’s not suitable for wheelchairs.
