How do you communicate with the parent / carer whose child has SEND?
I send updates, photos & videos via what's app during the day. I chat with parent at drop off & pick up.
How do you help children settle into your setting?
I offer a 4 week settling in period and build up sessions over the weeks. Parents complete starting points & All about me paperwork. I provide out of hours sessions to allow parent to stay for the first few sessions. I work with the parent to promote settling in.
What help and support does your setting offer to children with SEND as they move rooms or move on to school?
I complete a transition form and liaise with school.
How do you find out how each child likes to learn?
Parents complete an all about me form and starting points questionnaire. I observe and play with the child.
Inclusive practice / SEND training and expertise within this organisation
Planning inclusive play training. Makaton and Autism awareness training. I have experience in caring for children with Downs Syndrome and Autism/Adhd
