Community Children's Nurses - Dorset County Hospital

Community Children's Nurses - Dorset County Hospital logo

The Community Children's Nursing service provides care for children in the community who have a specific nursing need. The aim of our service is to help prevent hospital admissions where possible, support earlier discharge if appropriate and support families with their child's treatment at home. The community nurses work closely with other agencies where appropriate. Children are seen with both acute and chronic conditions. Service users must be registered to a GP within Dorset but out of area referrals are considered on a case by case basis. Access to out-of-hours medical care is via the usual way (GP, 111, 999, A&E, etc) unless the child has been given a designated temporary or long term Open Access arrangement to Kingfisher Ward.
