The Community Paediatric Department is based in the Child Development Centre (CDC) at Poole Hospital who see children across Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset, and in special schools.
Community Paediatricians provide services for children with physical disabilities and developmental difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions (including ADHD and autism spectrum conditions), for Looked After Children, and statutory services for local education authorities. They run enuresis clinics and currently 2nd tier audiology services. Specialist clinics include a Chronic Fatigue clinic and clinics for children with sensorineural hearing loss.
Referral pathways depend on the age of the child, their home address and/or their school and their presenting difficulty. There are referral criteria to be used. See website for further information.
