Screening is an effective way of detecting diabetic retinopathy as early as possible. Dorset Diabetic Eye Screening Programme offers eye screening for patients with diabetes from the age of 12. All screening is undertaken in participating practices by trained staff across Dorset using digital photography.

Eligibility criteria:

All people aged 12 and over with diabetes (type 1 and 2) are eligible. Patients with no perception of light in both eyes are not eligible for screening.
