Dyspraxia or DCD is a condition that affects people’s movement and motor skills. It can affect the activities people like to do including sports, such as cycling, skiing and rowing, and affect some people's ability to drive.
People with dyspraxia may be more likely to trip, fall or bump into things. It can even affect fine motor skills, such as typing or drawing, and short-term memory.
However, it does not affect one’s intelligence, cognitive ability, or analytical and logical skills.
Around 3-5% of adults in the UK are thought to have some kind of dyspraxia or DCD, with many people not diagnosed until adulthood.
Some people are born with dyspraxia, but for others, it is acquired as a result of brain injury or another condition.
