Epilepsy Service - Children's Centre - Dorset County Hospital

Epilepsy Service - Children's Centre - Dorset County Hospital logo

Our service is based in The Children's Centre in Dorset County Hospital. We support children and young people with an established diagnosis of epilepsy that do not already have a paediatrician, or for whom it has been agreed to share care with this clinic, or transfer epilepsy care to this clinic. An epilepsy specialist nurse (part-time) supports the patients.  Children and young people must be registered with a Dorset GP to access this service, but out of area referrals are considered on a case-by-case basis.  Referrals are accepted from Health professionals, including health visitors and school nursing. In most situations the General Practitioner (GP) sends the referral. Some parts of the service also receive referrals from other agencies i.e. Social Services.
