Amelia's Rainbow

Amelia's Rainbow logo

Amelia's Rainbow supports children in Dorset and the surrounding area who are suffering from terminal, life-limiting and serious chronic illnesses.

We aim to create an environment full of fun, laughter, achievement and memories through providing funds for activities and play which will enrich the lives of children who are suffering.

The Fund

The Trustees will consider funding family days out, games or toys, social activities such as swimming or dancing lessons or any other request which they feel supports the aim of the charity.

We are a need-driven service and help children by providing funds to create happiness in times of need without weeks of waiting for panel decisions. Our criteria is simple and is governed by whether the child has a serious, chronic, life limiting or terminal illness.

We work closely with both Poole and Dorchester Hospitals to ensure that children in their care are able to access funds when needed. Most referrals come through the hospitals although families are also able to self refer.

We are unique in that we are able to assist children suffering from any childhood illness including mental health conditions. In this way we can help many more children and capture those children who are not covered by any other disease specific charity.

The Beach Hut

We are happy to be able to provide access to our wonderful beach hut in Southbourne, which is fully kitted-out for the benefit of sick children and their families from across Dorset.

Families are welcome to access the beach hut free of charge through the charity and spend a day, weekend or week using its facilities, and those of the local area.

Applications to book the beach hut can be made from any family whose child is suffering with a life-limiting, serious, chronic or terminal illness as well as families who have lost a child and would like some time to relax by the sea.

Amelia's Retreat Holiday Home

Hoburne Naish is a holiday park set on a Hampshire cliff top with panoramic views to the Isle of Wight and the Purbecks. We brought Amelia here to get away from everything when she was ill and she absolutely loved it. Our hope is that the holiday home will provide countless more happy memories for families that are in a similar situation, as well as a place for them to come if they are grieving.

The home sleeps six and is fully equipped for you to enjoy a week or weekend break. The park has both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a full entertainments package to keep you dancing into the early hours. All this will be included in your break.
