Classroom in the Heart of Industry (CHI) is a training programme that provides a unique opportunity for young people, who are working below the academic level of Apprenticeships, to undertake on-the-job training. Whilst on the programme, students can work towards recognised qualifications to enhance their future prospects of employment.

The students work towards academic qualifications that have a focus on the workplace and independent living including Functional Skills, Preparation for Working Life and BTEC Hospitality.
The course is based over different sites, three sites with work placements include Marsham Court Hotel, Tesco Extra Riverside and Bargates Christchurch, Venture shop. We also have a base at Citygate in Bournemouth where second and third year students can access their academic studies.
The course has run since 2013 and has already confirmed its potential to really impact on the career and life chances of a group of young people who, with support and guidance, have the skills and aptitude to make a positive and lasting contribution to industry.
