If your child attends an early years setting, then the setting should already receive some funding from the local authority to help them meet special needs. An extra amount will be paid to them if the EHCP requires them to offer more support than this existing funding pays for.
If your child or young person attends a mainstream school, the support in the EHCP is funded partly by the SEN funding already included in the school’s budget plus a 'top-up' amount provided to the school by the local authority. The amount of the top-up payment is based on the level of support set out in Section F of the EHCP.

If your child or young person attends a special school, the school receives funding directly from the local authority, based on the support set out in Section F the EHCP.
If your young person attends an FE College, the College already receives funding as part of its budget to meet special needs. An extra amount will be paid to them if the EHCP requires them to offer more support than this existing funding pays for.
