The Shine Project

The Shine Project logo

Through practical demonstrations on make-up, hair, nail-care, deportment and informal discussions on subjects such as aspirations and etiquette, it aims to show the girls that they have intrinsic worth, purpose and value - to recognise the same in others and to encourage them that they have a positive contribution to make themselves and to others.

Across this town, there are young women growing up without identity, worth or purpose, living in a culture marked by hollow promises, broken relationships and instability. The Shine Project is a non-profit making registered charity designed to be an innovative and exciting local initiative for young adolescent girls. The project is a values forming programme that underpins the governments five targets of the 2004 Children's Act that every child matters. Shine aims to invest in the girl's futures, providing a much needed source of support and inspiration. Shine has plans to expand its operations and make the course available to a much wider area. The courses are provided with no charge to the schools or girls.
