A Green Flag winning Park in the heart of Bournemouth
This beautiful park will take you through a range of woodland, formal golf course and informal green spaces.
There is a modern playground, themed by nature using natural materials to encourage adventure play with climbing, swings, slides. With plenty of seating for children and adults and a cafe for hungry tums, families can stay and play all day.
Woodpecker Cafe is owned and operated by Bournemouth Borough Council. Open daily, the licensed cafe bar has a wide range of drinks, meals and snacks available - and the pennies you spend here will go towards making our parks and gardens a little bit better - take a look at our menu.
The park is cared for in partnership with the Queen's Park Improvement and Protection Society (QPIPS), who organise events and help us manage the area.
History of the Park
The area was originally called 'Poors Common', because the soils were of poor quality. It formed part of an expanse of heathland that stretched from Dorchester to the New Forest.
From1802-1902, Queen's Park was known as 'Plot 60' - and formed part of the Christchurch Enclosure Act of 1802, which 'privatised' much of Poors Common, making it ripe for development.
Queen's Park was given its name in 1902, after the then Prince of Wales' (Edward) Danish wife, Alexandra. He officially visited Bournemouth only twice, but was, in fact, a frequent visitor to his mistress Lillie Langtry.

Getting there
You can get there by heading towards Charminster and following signs to Queen's Park Golf Course. There are entrances to the park on all sides and ample parking. Use our map to find Queen's Park.
Golf at Queen's Park
Queen's Park is home to Queen's Park Golf Course - an ex-championship golf course open to the public for pay and play.
