What systems and strategies do you have in place to identify children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)?
Good communication with parents, daily observations, trackers and 2 year old progress checks help me evidence any concerns I may have. I would seek support from the Early Years Inclusion Team for support and guidance.
How will you support my child? How will you communicate effectively with me?
Physical and emotional support will be given by myself and my assistant – taking advice from you as the parent and from other experts involved in your child’s care in order to meet their needs. I will attend relevant training. Daily I will communicate verbally and through daily diaries also through a learning journal.
How will the teaching and learning be matched to my child’s needs?
Your child’s ‘stage’ not ‘age’ will be taken into consideration when planning activities to meet their individual needs to support their learning and next steps. Consideration will also be taken when planning the room layout and activates will be setup and adapted to suit your child’s needs and abilities. Resources will be chosen to ensure that all the children are able to participate, enjoy and succeed.
How will you know how my child is doing and how will you help me to support my child’s learning?
Trackers to monitor progress and observations in child’s journals which is shared with parents. Working in partnership with parents with good communication, verbally, email, phone call and text. Extra support can be accessed from Children’s centres and outreach workers.
What support will you provide for my child’s overall wellbeing?
I provide a homely environment with lots of one to one support. Children’s emotions will be recognised and supported in a positive manner. All medication is stored safely and administrated in accordance with the statutory requirements. Intimate care policy in place.
What specialist services and expertise are available?
I have a SEN training from B.O.P and paediatric first aid training, I also have years of experience with epilepsy. I will take direction on what specialist services and expertise are required for any child from parents and other relevant professionals.
What training do you have or are you receiving to support children with SEND?
Behavioural management training, Paediatric first aid which includes Epi-pen/ Inhalers. Also trained to administrate rectal diazepam.
How will you include my child in activities outside the setting, including trips?
Wide variety of car seats and buggies, risk assessments made prior to outing and plan accordingly.
How accessible and welcoming is your setting?
My setting is light and spacious that is well resourced. I have a downstairs toilet and level access through the front door.
How will you prepare and support my child to join the setting or to transfer to another setting/school?
Settling in sessions to suit the needs of the child and parents, parent pack is given which includes all my policies. Transition forms completed when transferring to school. Tracker forms used and shared with other settings.
How much support will my child receive and how are decisions made?
Decision will be made following continues monitoring and through close discussion with parents. Individual support will be given and as much one to one support will be given which can be adapted to suit the needs of the child.

What can I do if I’m not happy with your provision for my child?
Any concerns can be made to me verbally or in my complaints book. If not resolved parents can make any complaints to Ofsted – the Ofsted poster including tel.no is provided in parents packages and displayed in my hallway. Complaints policy in place.
