1c) What different ways do you use to communicate with parents?
We utilise an online system called Babysdays through which we upload photographs and observations as well as lots of other information. If you use the Babysdays app you will get notifications when information is uploaded. We are always available for a chat or a telephone call or text.
1d) How can parents contribute or share ideas for you to consider to make communication with you more effective?
We welcome feedback on our setting and will try and accommodate parent/carer requests to facilitate communication.
1e) If the parent/carer is unhappy with your provision, what should they do?
In the first instance please feel free to speak to us and hopefully we will be able to resolve any potential issues.
We also have a written complaints policy which is available via the online system we use. Information on this is made available upon registration.
If we are unable to resolve an issue then the parent/carer has the recourse to complain to BCP Council’s Early Years Team or Ofsted, information is provided upon registration.
Section 2 - How will you help to settle the child into your setting?
2a) State some of the things the parent/carer will see when their child first starts at your setting
We offer visits so that you and your child can see our setting in operation. Registration will take place once you are happy to accept an available space.
We also offer a settling in period when your child first starts during which you and your child are able to get to know us and our setting.
Section 3 - What help and support does your setting offer to SEND children to move rooms or move on to school?
Before your child is due to start school we will work with you to support your child getting ready for school, known as the 7 Steps to School Readiness. We are able to offer advice on the process of school application and the schools in our local area. Once a school place has been accepted, we will work with parents/carers to offer a transition to school which will encompass a written report and a meeting with the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) from the school your child will attend. This meeting is usually held at our setting and is a great opportunity for you to discuss any specific requirements before starting school.
3a) How do you ensure the child is happy and learning as they move from room to room?
N/a - As a smaller childcare settling we do not have separate rooms
3b) How do you ensure the child remains happy and learning as they move from you on to another setting?
If your child was to move to another setting or we would share care with another setting we would with your permission share information such as transition, likes & dislikes, stage of development, what we were working on (Next Steps) and forward planning.
Section 4 - How do you understand and discover how the child learns?
4a) How do you measure the child’s learning to try to discover any additional educational needs they might have?
All childcare settings follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) this guidance provides a number of areas of learning and goals which the average child should meet. Through observation we are able to assess where your child would be against these areas and thus develop Next Steps for Learning & Development and if a child was delayed then we are able to offer interventions to help that child reach their potential.
4b) How will you make sure that what you are teaching meets the needs of the child?
Through observation and reference to the EYFS we are able to plan your child’s best Next Step’s to try and encourage them to lean & develop to reach their potential.
4c) How will you make sure that the child is having fun and enjoys learning through play?
We are experienced childcare providers and we are able to observe, interact and encourage children to learn & develop.
4d) Which experts and other professionals do you liaise with?
Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council and the NHS has many experts and professionals able to offer advice and help, and we are able to sign post and refer as necessary.
4e) When some children need a higher level of SEND support how do you go about making sure they get the support they need?
We are trained on how to make referrals to access specialist support as required.
4f) How do you ensure that the views of parents/carers and children are included in this specialist work?
The referral paperwork has a space for parent/carer views which is essential in providing the right care for your child.
Section 5 - Inclusive Practice and SEND training and expertise within this organisation

We are able to adapt our activities to take into account all abilities and stages of development.
Our outdoor setting is an all weather artificial grass area which is generally one level. Our outdoor toys are suitable for most but we are able to purchase special items using the additional funding that may accompany your child if they have complex needs.
