What systems and strategies do you have in place to identify children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)?
From the start and throughout child’s journey with us, we closely work with children & parents observing and recording child’s progress. Through regular observation, assessment and planning we are able to identify any issues related to child’s learning and development and take appropriate measures to help any issues.
How will you support my child? How will you communicate effectively with me?
For every child who will be identified with special educational needs a SMART plan will be developed which we will regularly review and discuss progress with the parents. With parental permission other professionals can be involved, such as; Early Years Team, Childcare Officer or Health Visitor.
How will the teaching and learning be matched to my child’s needs?
We will take into consideration child’s individual interests, needs and pace of child’s ability to learn. Communication with parents plays a major role as exchanging information can be vital for child’s benefits in making progress in learning and development.
How will you know how my child is doing and how will you help me to support my child’s learning?
Child’s progress will be regularly monitored and reviewed and outcomes will be always discussed with parents. You can borrow resources from our setting. We have some books that could answer your questions about how to care for children with special educational needs and you will be more than welcome to borrow them or ask us questions. You can also visit Children’s Centres and together we can get involved in activities and talk to Early Years Professionals.
What support will you provide for my child’s overall wellbeing?
All activities and time spent in our setting will be tailored to child’s needs. We will make sure that your child will be loved, accepted and happy.
What specialist services and expertise are available?
In our setting I am a SENCo. We can also ask for advice other Early Years Professionals such as; Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Health Visitor, Childcare Officer etc
What training do you have or are you receiving to support children with SEND?
I have completed following trainings:

*An Introduction to Children Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder *Special Needs, Inclusion & the Role of SENCo
*Behaviour Management
*Level 1 in BSL
How will you include my child in activities outside the setting, including trips?
There is an easy access to our outdoor area where all the activities are always accessible to children of all ages and abilities. When going for an outing we travel in our car and take a pushchair. We can discuss any other issues with parents and together help the child to get best out of our trips.
How accessible and welcoming is your setting? .
Our setting is very accessible with driveway in front of our house and easy access to the house and garden. Children’s eating area, playroom and toilet are located on the ground floor.
How will you prepare and support my child to join the setting or to transfer to another setting/school?
We offer settling-in sessions to new parents and children during which we get to know them and to implement the knowledge about the child in the transition so it is smooth and stress free.
How much support will my child receive and how are decisions made?
We will do our best for your child to reach highest potential in learning and development. All the decisions will be made in agreement with parents.

What can I do if I’m not happy with your provision for my child?
You can talk to us about it and we will do everything to resolve the problem. You will receive a complaint form on our first meeting. You can fill it in and send it to Ofsted.
How can I arrange a visit to your setting? What is involved?
A visit can be arranged by phone call and we will choose most appropriate time to give you all our attention and discuss your and discuss your child’s needs and our policies and procedures.
