How do you communicate with the parent/carer whose child has SEND?
We communicate verbally via telephone or face to face when possible. We speak to the parents in a confidential area at a time to suit them. We can email any communications directly to the parents/carers
How do you help children settle into your setting?
We offer settling in sessions where the child and family can meet their key person and they can investigate their new environment. We would ensure we have all the information about the child to ensure that their needs are met effectively. His would be the opportunity for us to observe any changes that need to be made or any additional resources that may support your child's needs
What help and support does your setting offer to children with SEND as they move rooms or move on to school?
We support transition to school by arranging meetings with them and ensure all information is transferred in good detail. We offer new settings to come and visit them and have the opportunity to meet with the child's key person.
How do you find out how each child likes to learn?
We ask parents to complete an all about me section on our learning journey ,they can do this at a visit to the setting or at home where this can then be read by the childs key person and fed back to all staff.
Inclusive practice / SEND training and expertise within this organisation
We have two staff trained in send who update their knowledge by attending updates within the local authority. All updates are fed back to all staff so they are aware of all procedures that must be adhered too.
