The service aims to:

  • Prevent the development of emotional and behavioural problems through consultation, advice, training and support to multiagency professionals provided by primary mental health workers. Each school will have a named link worker offering consultation and advice and with whom potential referrals should be discussed prior to making a referral to CAMHS.
  • Offer early intervention to children and young people (0 to18 years) and their families for mild to moderate emotional health and wellbeing difficulties by providing assessments and up to 6-8 sessions of group/ individual interventions from primary mental health workers.
  • Respond to moderate and severe emotional health and behavioural problems of children and young people (0 to18) and their families which have a significant impact on functioning and /or present significant risk through the provision of assessment and therapeutic interventions of up to an average of 18 sessions provided by CAMHS professionals.
