We are the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury. Our national specialist centre is in Tadworth, Surrey, where we provide rehabilitation to children with acquired brain injury and specialist medical/transitional care to children with complex health needs.
We also run The Children's Trust School, a non-maintained residential special school in Tadworth for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex health needs.
Our other services include expert community-based support for children with acquired brain injury and online support for families via our Brain Injury Hub website.
Each child/young person has their own individualised programme of education, therapy and support to help them reach their potential. We work in partnership with families throughout a child's time at The Children's Trust, for example involving them in goal setting. For children and young people accessing our brain injury rehabilitation service, we help them regain and relearn lost skills, where possible, equipping them and their families with interventions and the confidence to return home.
We have a dedicated placements and commissioning team who are happy to discuss (formally or informally) the referral process of each of our services, admissions criteria and the assessment process. Please contact them on 01737 365080 or email enquiries@thechildrenstrust.org.uk. Enquiries are accepted from parents and professionals.
We work closely with families, referrers, funders, and all community professionals to ensure continuity of care, and where appropriate, smooth transition to follow-on placements and/or a return home. For children accessing our brain injury rehabilitation services and/or transitional care, we work closely with community teams and provide training for teachers, nursing teams and therapists. Our Brain Injury Community Services also provide training and support for schools to help children with brain injury remain in education.
