The Water Lily Project

The Water Lily Project logo

The Water Lily Project is a Christian charity that is passionate about supporting and empowering vulnerable women in Christchurch and surrounding areas and helping them back to independent living.

The Water Lily Project was founded in 2011 by a group of local Christians who realised there was a need to help women affected by either domestic violence and abuse, addiction, sex trade, financial difficulty or homelessness.

We use the image of the Water Lily because they sit on very strong leaves that support the flower.  They don't look much when they are closed, but when they are provided with a good and healthy environment and space, they open up and display their beauty.  They need good conditions in which to flourish and reach their full potential and this is what we hope to provide for the women who come to the Water Lily Project.

We have been operating out of Bailey's Cafe since 2014.
