HAF programme aims

The aims of the HAF programme are to support children on benefits-related free school meals to:

  • eat more healthily
  • be more active
  • take part in engaging and enriching activities, which support the development of resilience, character, well-being along and wider education attainment
  • be safe and not socially isolated
  • have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition
  • be more engaged with school and other local services

The programme also helps children and families develop their understanding of nutrition and food budgeting and offers signposting to additional information and support, on things such as health, employment and education.
