Information for families in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole

Educational Psychology Service (EPS)

Educational Psychologists (EPs) are trained in using psychology to help children and young people (0 to 25 years) make the most out of education. We work with families, teachers, schools and other professionals to support children and young people in education. We have produced an information leaflet for children and young people to better understand the support we offer.

You can read more about the work we do in schools in our 2025 service brochure.

Important Update from BCP Council Educational Psychology Service

Since September 2024, we have been unable to resource the Educational Psychologists sufficiently to keep up with the number of requests for Education Health and Care Needs Assessments and Plans which we regularly receive.

We understand that waiting can be frustrating. Thank you for your patience and support during this time.

For more help, look at our Frequently Asked Questions in the related information section.

We are employed by the local authority to provide independent advice and most importantly, we are advocates for children and young people.
