The Sandwell Whole School Approach to Wellbeing is a robust, evidence-based programme, developed in 2015 in Sandwell, near Birmingham, that has been rolled out in schools across the country.
The Sandwell Whole School Approach to Wellbeing is a school's opportunity to commit to improving the mental health and well-being of everyone in the school community. The programme is divided into two key elements; an emotional health and well-being school audit, including taking into account parent, staff and pupil views, followed by an action plan and support to address areas for development.
On successful completion, the school is awarded the ‘Sandwell Wellbeing Charter Mark’ to recognise their dedication and good practice in the area of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH).
