Working with families to provide the right support when it's needed

Your wellbeing - Start for Life (pregnancy)

Becoming a parent is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming time. It can take a while to adjust to family life, and looking after your wellbeing is important during pregnancy to help you prepare for when your baby arrives.

To look after your wellbeing, you and your partner may find it helpful to:

  • eat regular healthy meals and snacks, drink plenty of water
  • try to get out every day for some a short walk, some fresh air and light exercise, even if it’s a walk around the block, it is a great way of lifting your mood
  • try having a bath or shower to help you relax and unwind
  • try and rest, even if you cannot sleep in the day try to sit down, relax, and watch some TV, enjoy or read a book.
