Support for children aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Grants for children and young people with SEND

Subject to eligibility criteria, grants are available from various organisations for families of children and young people with SEND. We have listed some here, but this list is not exhaustive. If you know of other organisations please tell us so we can add them.

The Family Fund provides grants to families with severely disabled or ill children and young people aged 17 and under. The grants are to help families on lower incomes.

The Dorset Community Foundation offer financial help to young people age 0 to 25 years who want to make the most of their potential.

The Leonardo Trust offer funding for full time carers to take a break of some kind, such as a short holiday or a weekend away.

Amelia's Rainbow supports children in Dorset and the surrounding area who are suffering from terminal, life-limiting and serious chronic illnesses. The Trustees will consider funding family days out, games or toys, social activities such as swimming or dancing lessons or any other request which they feel supports the aim of the charity.

Dorset Gold help families in the local community by awarding grants to help towards respite care, be it for a break or to join a weekly club.

Caudwell Children provide support for equipment, therapy programmes, treatment and Destination Dreams.

The Dorset Deaf Children's Society provides grants and equipment to families with a hearing impaired child.

Variety provides equipment grants for disabled children.

The Dorset Children's Foundation provides support with mobility equipment and medical expenses not covered by the NHS.

Independence at Home provides grants to people of all ages with physical or learning difficulties who are in financial need to allow them to obtain mobility and disabillity equipment and home adaptations.
