Support for children aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Daily living skills - preparing for adulthood

We want young people to be as independent as possible. Some young people will need a lot of support to do certain day to day tasks, and it can be difficult to balance the level of support that they want or need, and develop their belief in, or ability to, learn the skills themselves to enable them to be as independent as possible.

Some skills for independence will be learned in school, or college or in the community, but for most young people it is in the home or with family and friends that these types of skills are developed. We hope you find the information below helpful.
