Support for children aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Safe Places Scheme

People First Forum is a charity run by and for people with learning disabilities. The charity works to keep vulnerable residents safe.

The charity has a 'Safe Places' scheme which encourages shops and organisations to offer a safe haven for people with learning disabilities should they feel in danger, lost or unwell. These venues offer a refuge by displaying the 'Safe Place' sticker in their window.

See the Safe Places National Network website for a list of safe places in the local area.

Lots of other guides on keeping safe can be found in the Keeping Safe section of their website. Guides include:

  • Hate Crime Factsheet
  • Keep Safe Stop Abuse
  • Keeping Safe in Bournemouth and Poole

For travel outside of the local area, the Safe Places National Network website is a useful resource.
