Working and getting a job - preparing for adulthood

All young people and adults have the right to access work; including young people and adults who have SEND.

No one starts a new job knowing how to do everything on their first day! For young people with additional needs and their families it is important to know that there is help, advice and guidance on how to find employment. There are also ways that young people can be supported to develop new skills so that they can find enjoyment, satisfaction and success in their chosen area of employment.

For young people with very complex needs additional help may be needed to support them to gain employment, at a pace that that suits their particular areas of need and ensures they are ready to take this next step towards adulthood.

You may also find it useful to look at the learning and training section for details of training programmes and qualifications.
